Thanksgiving

Do you have a favorite holiday?

I do, mine is Thanksgiving. I bet you couldn't figure that out, since this is Thanksgiving. I used to kind of hate all the holidays. My family could be described as volatile. We have had the police called during our family gatherings. growing up like that was scary to say the least. I liked maybe even loved my family getting together, I loved the food the conversation, the rest, the laughter, seeing people, etc. Once my family started falling apart, I hated holidays they pulled at me. I had to drive every where. As an adult it got worse. At Christmas, especially now that I am married I have five Christmas celebrations besides the one with just me and my husband.
Thanksgiving is my holiday and I love it. No glitz, no glamour, no publicity, no gifts.
Thanksgiving is about the friends and family. It is about sharing with others and giving thanks unto the Lord. It is simple, it is a foretaste of heaven's banquet feast. A meal shared with those who you love.

I am thankful for the 11 friends and family coming tomorrow to my home. I can easily host 18 and sometime that will happen. Every year I try to make sure the students around me have a place to go and if not, they are welcome to come to my home. After all we are all family. I love how I have blended all the things I love from my childhood memories of holidays with my husband's traditions. We have a huge spread. If you ever need a place to visit for Thanksgiving let me know.

I am definitely thankful. The Lord has blessed me richly! I am a daughter of the Lord, loved well!
